COMMERCIAL SOLAR
Commercial rooftop solar.
A solar array designed around roof life, drainage, access, structure, and the way the building operates.
ROOF + POWER
The roof and solar array have to work as one system
Commercial rooftop solar uses space the facility already owns, but the array cannot be designed in isolation. Roof age, structure, drainage, wind, fire access, equipment paths, and warranty terms all shape a buildable layout. We coordinate those constraints before attachment details and panel rows are locked.
The electrical design follows the same rule: the route from array to inverter, service, meter, and utility point has to fit the actual building. Commissioning then proves the installed system matches the drawings and performs as intended.
ROOF DUE DILIGENCE
What gets resolved before rooftop construction
- Remaining roof life and warranty conditions
- Structural loading and attachment approach
- Drainage paths and access to roof equipment
- Fire, service, and emergency access lanes
- Conduit, inverter, disconnect, and interconnection locations
- Construction staging for an occupied facility

COORDINATION
Do roof work before the array blocks it
If repair or replacement is near, it belongs ahead of solar installation or in the same coordinated project. That protects the roof warranty and avoids paying to remove a new array for old-roof work. Our feasibility review makes that timing visible.
OPERATIONS
Keep drains, units, and walk paths reachable
A crowded layout can increase production on paper while making the roof harder to maintain. Clear drainage, safe access, service space around rooftop equipment, and a documented shutdown plan matter for the full operating life of the building.
QUESTIONS
Straight answers.
Can solar go on an older commercial roof?
Sometimes, but the roof condition and remaining life must be compared with the array plan first. Repair or replacement may need to happen before installation.
Who protects the roof warranty?
The project team coordinates the roofer, attachment system, flashing or ballast details, and warranty requirements in writing before construction.
Will the array block HVAC service?
It should not. Equipment clearance and safe service paths are design requirements, not changes made after installation.
