Commercial energy audits in Fort Worth.
We run commercial energy audits in Fort Worth for building owners and operators, from a simple Level I survey to an investment-grade Level 3 study of a single capital measure.
Find the waste before you buy the upgrade.
Most commercial buildings are paying for energy they never use. A proper commercial energy audit puts numbers on it: where the waste is, what the fix costs, and what it returns. From there, efficiency consultants sequence the upgrades so the cheap wins pay for the big ones.
The audit also tells you when the answer is bigger than efficiency. High demand charges point at battery storage; aging equipment points at a mechanical replacement that pays back in utility savings. Either way, you decide with real numbers on the table.

What our energy audit finds in a Fort Worth building
A commercial energy audit is a study of how your Fort Worth building uses energy and what to change first. We inventory equipment and assess its condition, analyze energy consumption, review operating schedules, and evaluate the control system. You get a written report with prioritized improvement recommendations and estimated savings. Most audits start simple. A simple ASHRAE Level I audit can uncover easy, no-cost adjustments to equipment that immediately reduce energy costs by 5 to 10 percent. We write our audits to ASHRAE Standard 211, which sets consistent practices for conducting and reporting energy audits for commercial buildings.
Oncor incentives are paid through approved Service Providers
Oncor's Commercial Standard Offer Program provides incentives for qualifying peak-demand and energy-saving projects at eligible Oncor commercial customers. The incentives are not available to the commercial customer directly. They go to approved participating Service Providers that implement the project. The 2026 Commercial SOP incentive budget is $4,925,481, and incentives are limited to 20 percent of that budget for each Service Provider and its affiliates. So we time the audit early in the program year and write the measure list so it maps to program requirements and inspections. Oncor Electric Delivery and Atmos Energy also offer commercial rebate programs for qualifying HVAC upgrades.

ASHRAE Level I
START HERE
A simple Level I audit uncovers easy, no-cost adjustments to equipment in your building that can immediately reduce energy costs by 5 to 10 percent. Many Fort Worth businesses start here.
Level II or III
DEEPER
A more systematic Level II or III audit goes further than the walk-through list. We move here once the easy no-cost measures are already done and the next steps cost real money.
Investment-grade Level 3
CAPITAL
The ASHRAE Level 3 audit is also known as an investment-grade audit. It targets a few specific energy efficiency measures with high capital investment requirements and tests whether each one is viable.

SCOPE
We help you weigh your energy goals, available resources, and facility complexity when picking the audit type, so you do not buy a Level 3 study for a Level I problem.

PROJECT PLANNING
Fort Worth code facts that shape our energy audit recommendations
Adopted energy code
CODE
The City of Fort Worth has currently adopted the 2015 Energy Conservation Codes. Each code has locally adopted amendments, so we confirm the amendments that touch a measure before you buy it.
Adopted electrical code
ELECTRICAL
The adopted electrical code in Fort Worth is the 2023 National Electrical Code. Lighting and panel work that comes out of an audit gets designed to that edition.
Adoption cycle
CYCLE
The International Code Council publishes new codes on a three-year cycle, and the City of Fort Worth typically adopts new codes every other cycle. We flag that for long-payback measures.
Who signs off
PERMITS
The Fort Worth Building Official is Evan Roberts at 817-392-7843. We settle permit questions with Development Services before a capital measure is scoped.

MANAGEMENT
Scope and vendor checks
What to require from a commercial energy audit in Fort Worth
- An equipment inventory and condition assessment covering every major unit on the site.
- An energy consumption analysis and an operational schedule review, not just a walk-around.
- A control system evaluation, because no-cost and low-cost measures are often HVAC control measures that inexperienced auditors miss.
- A written report with prioritized improvement recommendations and estimated savings you can hand to finance.
- A clear answer on how the auditor avoids the wrong conservation measures, since a limited efficiency budget should go to the best ones.

BEFORE YOU BUY
What Fort Worth facilities gain from a commercial energy audit
- Average savings run around 10 to 20 percent, and we have seen facilities save upwards of 40 percent.
- Commercial HVAC systems typically account for 40 to 60 percent of a building's total energy consumption, so HVAC findings usually lead the list.
- Most Fort Worth commercial buildings can achieve 15 to 35 percent HVAC energy savings through audit-identified improvements.
- A building that has run many years without an audit is very likely to have significant savings left on the table.
- A building that already implemented measures from past audits may be efficient, with less potential left, and we will tell you that.
- Beyond utility expenses, audits support building comfort, longer equipment lifespan, and better indoor air quality.
ASKED IN FORT WORTH
Common questions about commercial energy audits in Fort Worth
How much does a commercial energy audit cost?
COST
A typical range for commercial buildings is $0.08 to $0.24 per square foot. Cost varies with the size and complexity of the facility and the level of audit detail.
What are the three types of energy audits?
LEVELS
ASHRAE Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. Level 1 is the simple audit, Level 2 is more systematic, and Level 3 is the investment-grade study for high capital measures.
Can I do my own energy audit?
DIY
You can walk your own building, but poorly done audits miss no-cost HVAC control measures and can lead to spending thousands on measures that will not save money.

QUESTIONS
Straight answers.
Will Oncor incentives cover the measures our Fort Worth audit finds?
They can, through the Commercial Standard Offer Program. Incentives are not available to commercial customers directly. They are paid to approved participating Service Providers that implement qualifying peak-demand or energy-saving projects for eligible Oncor commercial customers, and projects go through program inspections.
Which Fort Worth buildings get the most out of an energy audit?
Buildings that have been in operation for many years without an energy audit. Those sites very often have significant savings available. If your facility already had audits and implemented the identified measures, it may already be efficient, and the remaining potential is smaller.
What does a Flux commercial energy audit include?
An equipment inventory and condition assessment, an energy consumption analysis, an operational schedule review, a control system evaluation, and a written report with prioritized improvement recommendations and estimated savings.
How do we decide what to fix first in our Fort Worth building?
We rank measures so a limited efficiency budget goes to the best ones. No-cost and low-cost items come first, and many of those are HVAC control measures. Only after that do we build the case for a high capital measure with an investment-grade Level 3 audit.
