DALLAS, TX · SOLAR
Commercial solar installation in Dallas.
Flux Facility designs, permits, and installs commercial solar for Dallas buildings, from the shading study and utility filing to the startup records.
Start with the building, not the panels.
A commercial solar project has to fit the site, the roof, the electrical system, and the utility rules. We start with a solar feasibility study, then compare rooftop solar with solar carports where parking offers the stronger site.
One team carries design, permits, utility interconnection, construction, commissioning, and solar maintenance. We also compare direct ownership with solar financing and PPAs, and add battery storage only when it has a clear job.

Why do Dallas commercial buildings put solar on the roof?
Commercial solar installation puts panels on your Dallas building so part of the power you use is made on site. A Flux solar install covers the site study, the drawings, the permit, the utility filing, the wiring, and the startup tests. Dallas enforces the 2021 International Building Code, the 2021 International Fire Code, and the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code, each with Dallas amendments. Chapter 52 of the Dallas City Code sets the permit procedures. We build the drawing set to those chapters before it goes in for review.

LOCAL DECISION
Will solar lower the demand charge on a Dallas commercial power bill?
Demand charges are billed by the kilowatt each month. The charge is usually set by the single 15-minute stretch of the month when your use peaked. Many commercial buildings peak in the afternoon because of cooling loads, and solar heat gain makes those cooling loads worse. Dallas average highs run about 94 F in July and August. A common planning figure is that solar shaves demand by about 10% of its rated capacity, so a 1-megawatt array saves around 100 kilowatts. We pull your interval usage data and check how much of your peak actually lands inside solar hours.

PROJECT PLANNING
What happens on a Dallas solar project from site walk to switch-on?
Site and shading study · Site study We walk the roof, the parking areas, and the electrical room, then run a shading analysis on every spot that could hold panels. We map what blocks the sun there: parapets, roof units, screen walls, and taller buildings next door. The usable area gets fixed before we draw a single panel row. Own it, lease it, or buy the power · Ownership The U.S. Department of Energy's on-site solar decision guide lays out the ownership paths: own the system, lease it, or sign a power purchase agreement. Under third-party ownership, an outside firm builds, owns, operates, and maintains the array, and the site owner skips the upfront capital cost. That path is open only in certain states. We confirm the current Texas rule, then price the options you can actually use. Interconnection and utility paperwork · Utility filing Net metering rules, interconnection requirements, and permitting rules change from one utility and region to the next. We confirm your utility's current interconnection requirements, file the application early, and put the review time into the schedule instead of leaving it to the end. Oncor incentive check · Incentives Oncor runs an energy efficiency incentive program aimed at small business customers. We check whether your building and your scope qualify before the quote goes out. Unconfirmed incentive money never goes into your number. Install records at handover · Records The National Renewable Energy Laboratory publishes a best-practice guide that sets minimum requirements for commercial and industrial solar installation. Following it is voluntary, installers self-certify that they met it, and investors or rating agencies verify. We hand you that self-certification along with the drawings, equipment data, and startup test results.

BEFORE YOU BUY
What should a Dallas building owner have ready for a solar quote?
- Twelve months of electric bills, plus any interval usage data you can download from your utility account. - A roof plan or site plan, and the area you are willing to give up: roof, open ground, or a canopy over the parking lot. - Any roof or electrical work already planned in the next two years, so we phase the array around it. - Your operating hours, and the windows when a crane or lift can work without blocking tenants. - Who signs the contract, owner or tenant, and how long the lease runs. - The size of your main electrical service and where the main gear sits, so we can plan the wire run.
QUESTIONS
Straight answers.
Can Flux install solar on a former landfill or industrial site in Dallas?
Site conditions decide it. The EPA documents solar built on closed and contaminated land, including a 20-year power purchase agreement at Nellis Air Force Base that covers 33 acres of a capped landfill. We start with a site review and the cleanup records before any layout work, because the cap and the soil control what kind of mount is possible.
Our Dallas warehouse runs a night shift. Will solar still cut the demand charge?
Panels cut demand only while they are producing. If your peak 15-minute window lands after dark, a new peak sets the charge and the array does not touch it. We look at where your peaks fall across a full year, then tell you in plain numbers what the array can and cannot do for that bill line.
What experience should we require from a commercial solar installer in Dallas?
Ask for the record the National Renewable Energy Laboratory guide lists: at least three years of company work in the design, engineering, and installation of commercial-scale solar systems, plus project experience on commercial, industrial, or utility-scale sites. Flux puts that project history in writing with the proposal so you can check it.
Who maintains a commercial solar array in Dallas after it is switched on?
Ownership decides that. Under third-party ownership, the firm that builds and owns the array also operates and maintains it. If you own the system outright, upkeep sits with you unless a service contract says otherwise. Flux can carry that scope, including inverter checks, panel cleaning, and fault calls, on the same visit schedule as your other building work.
